Pianist Ekaterina Willewald, a favorite at the IM+SC, will offer a mesmerizing performance of “The Blue Danube,” a captivating program exploring the rich heritage of the waltz. Join her on an exquisite musical journey that begins from the serene Alpine meadows that cradled this dance’s earliest forms across the European continent to the northern beauty of Finland and Russia. The musical pilgrimage reaches its crescendo in Vienna, the world’s preeminent musical capital, where the waltz achieved its most beloved and refined expression. The program includes waltzes by Chopin, Shubert, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Sibelius, Rachmaninoff, and Strauss.

Since taking her concert debut in Moscow as a featured soloist with the Moscow State Philharmonic Orchestra, playing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Ekaterina Willewald has been invited to play on both sides of the Atlantic. She is a founder, lecturer, and performer in the piano concert series at Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main. From 2000 to 2005, she presented many concerts featuring great Russian and European composers and their masterworks, covering a vast range of the piano repertoire.
