Through works from the Balkans, Eastern Europe, and Russia, you’ll see how traditional techniques were adapted for printing, and how Western printing methods influenced the development of icon painting itself. By examining the materials, processes, and cultural contexts, Printing Icons sheds light on the complex relationship between tradition and innovation.
