Art historian Waldemar Deluga will discuss important 17th-century woodcut prints related to the monastery of St. Catherine in Sinai, Egypt. These works of art are included in the exhibition Printing Icons: Modern Process, Medieval Image on display at the Icon Museum and Study Center. Made in Lviv, one of the most beautiful cities in Central Europe, by Ukrainian artists, they are among the most rare examples of prints created in Eastern Christianity.
Waldemar Deluga served as curator of graphic art at the National Museum in Warsaw and teacher at the University of Gdańsk and Cadinal Stefan Wyszyński University, Warsaw. Deluga authored many articles in Print Quarterly (London) and published his book Ukrainian Painting between Byzantine and Latin Traditions, Ostrava- Warsaw in 2019. In 2023, he organized the exhibition Sacred Icons of Kyiv and Chernihiv and Their Cult in Ukraine at the Archdiocesan Museum in Warsaw. Presently, he is an Art Historian and Professor at the University of Ostrava, Czech Republic, and the editor of Series Byzantina.
